As the holidays roll around and I brace myself for an onslaught of sappy TV bullshit and 24-hour-marathons of “A Christmas Story”, I find solace in the fact that South Park exists. For me, the show has produced more happy holiday memories than Jolly Saint Nick himself, and today, I take the time to thank them — one clip at a time.
Merry Fucking Christmas.
10. Ned Sings “Little Town Of Bethlehem”
This gem was selected because of it’s rarity — actually used as an on-air promo for Season 1 of South Park back in 1997 — and just recently put back online by SouthParkStudios. It features Ned and Jimbo getting hick on “Little Town of Bethlehem”. Plus, how often do you get to see Ned singing his voicebox out?
9. Christmas In Canada
It’s just like you imagined it. Floppy heads, hockey players, and square wheels. That’s the spirit of Christmas, Canada-style. This is from the classic “It’s Christmas in Canada” episode, in which the Prime Minister of Canada turns out to be Saddam Hussein. Luckily, the Americans save Christmas, and Canadians can go back to sodomy.
8. Abortion Lessons
This clip gets props for fitting mountain lions, Christmas, and abortion all into one flawlessly hilarious Christmas special. Stick around for the song at the end. Amazing.
